About these works
I was fascinated by the shapes of the inkblot images used in the Rorschach test. What do these symmetrical images trigger in our brains, why do they seem familiar, and why do we associate them with images stored in our imagination? Everyone I showed the pictures to before the exhibition immediately recognised animals, insects or skulls, although their creation leaves much to chance.
The Rorschach test (inkblot test, formally the Rorschach interpretation test) is a projective method in psychological assessment and personality psychology. It originates in the work of the Swiss psychiatrist and psychoanalyst Hermann Rorschach (1884–1922), who developed his own theory of personality and later combined it with the
theories of the Freudian school. The method is interpreted from a depth-psychological perspective. (Source: Wikipedia)
