Text from the published archive.

English translation of the German original.

“i was able to help heinz aschenbrenner develop from an art collector into a good painter. something that would in fact be desirable in general, yet unfortunately happens neither so often nor in such accomplished form. what i value so much in heinz aschenbrenner’s sensitive painting is that he develops a timeless art informel. his painting is liberation. the liberation also achieved by titian, rubens, rembrandt, velazquez and the impressionists. this is painting wrested from repression, uninhibited and spontaneous. the triumph of abstraction takes place. heinz aschenbrenner proves himself in our time. he is an aesthete, he knows how to handle form, politicising messages are avoided, content ‘is set aside’. the colours reveal themselves like flowers and their scents. and everything is carried by a force of nature.”
